27 million people are.....

enslaved today!

this has been on my mind a lot lately.
this is a picture from an article about slave trade by the FBI.

A Western man negotiating for a young Thai girl (far right), who clutches the arm of her trafficker. After settling on a price, the man left with the girl, and the trafficker left with her payment. Photo courtesy of the U.S. State Department.

i picked up a publication the other day in downtown atlanta that had an article about sex trafficking in atlanta. did you know that atlanta is the #1 state in the country for sex trafficking. not to mention the fact that we are one of the top in the world. how sad! there are several different organizations in atlanta that help support girls who have been out on the streets or imprisoned by this terrible act. thankfully! i want to do something to help out!

a couple years ago i read this book and that was the catalyst for me. the beginning of my heart for these people. the beginning of my awareness of what really happens in the human trafficking industry. if you are interested in learning more about this tragedy that our world is facing - read this book!

if you are in atlanta and are interested in helping out - check out these great organizations:
meet justice
drop dead gorgeous
innocence atlanta
covenant house ga

not for sale campaign is another great site to learn more and find out how you can get involved.

let's help!

xoxo

Thanks so much for sharing Aud. I agree we have a responsibility as Christians to not turn a blind eye to what is going on in our world, and even in our own city! I'm going to get this book.

We'd love to get together with you and Ben when you're in town! Let me know what would work for you.
